Research Resources
Students at Ross Elementary School are taught how to use many resources to locate information.
There are library books, teacher videos, magazines and numerous on-line resources for students to utilize. - Choose the best words to enter for their search. (We don't write a whole question).
- NEVER make up their own website address.
- Use advanced search, when it is helpful to do so.
- Use symbols to help locate specific words, such as:
- Use "quotes" around words that must stay together in that order
- Use an * to show you are leaving out a word that you want the computer to fill in
- ALWAYS look at the address of the website and the description of the website for clues when selecting the site to use.
- Check to see the quality of a website before using it.
- When a site is not useful, go back and select a different site.
- Remember wikis and blogs are full of people's opinions and may not be your best factual resource!
- Follow the rules and procedures for the website you are on .
