Library and Media FAQ's

Bring the book (and any pieces) to the library. Hopefully, the library staff can repair the book. If the book is damaged beyond use, you will have to pay for it.

 If you cannot find your library book or other library material, do not panic. Search everywhere at home and ask everyone at your house if they have seen the book. Sometimes someone moves the book and they know right where it is. If you cannot find the book at home check with your bus driver, your teacher, your daycare provider, and your friends. Maybe one of them knows where the book is. If no one can find the book, you will have to pay for it. However, the good news is: if the book is found (by anyone) your money will be refunded.

If the book is expensive you can make small payments until the fine is paid. Some students pay a quarter each day, or a dollar each week until the book is paid for.

Yes. If you need to pay for a lost or damaged book you may pay the whole amount at once or make small payments until the payment is made.  We have had students pay as little as 5 cents each time. We also allow students to work off their debt, when that is necessary.  With a note from a parent stating that is the way payment needs to be made, we will have the student work in the library during their recess periods until the payment is made.

Always return a book when it is found. If you have paid for a lost book and it is found and returned to the library (by anyone) you will receive a refund.

No. Copies of books in the Ross Library Collection are not for sale. However, if you are interested in purchasing a personal copy of a book, please go to a bookstore or an on-line bookseller. You will need to know the title and author of the book. Knowing the publisher and copyright date is also helpful. If the book is not in the store the employees can usually order a copy for you.

At this time the library is not available after school. If a student or a parent needs materials from the library please contact Mrs. Mahan to arrange for a time to meet or pick-up the materials.

Yes, you may use the databases at home.  These are a wonderful resource for you.  Ask Mrs. Mahan for the password so you can get into the databases.
