Principals Message

Welcome to Lulu Ross Elementary School – home of the Ross Cats and PAW Power! We are one of four elementary schools serving the greater Milford area and have been an outstanding elementary school since 1957. Our excellent teaching staff and support personnel want to ensure that every child succeeds. We strive to meet the individual needs of each student through our innovative, state-aligned curriculum. Our teachers use best practices daily to deliver superior instruction to our students, thereby qualifying us as a Recognition School by the State of Delaware.  We have also received National recognition as a National Unified Champion School for our support of, and participation in, Special Olympics.

Ross Elementary has implemented a Positive Behavior System (PBS) to create a safe and nurturing environment for all students. PAW principles are Practice Safety, Act Responsibly, and Welcome Respect. We have an on-site Home/School Interventionist and two on-site counselors to provide our students and families with support throughout the year.  In addition, we have a reading specialist, school psychologist, speech pathologist, occupational therapist, and two EL teachers to support our diverse student population and ensure communication with our families.  Currently we offer a two-way Spanish Immersion program for grades one through four.

Ross also has an outstanding Parent Teacher Partnership (PTP) which helps with fundraising to support several school activities and programs; including field trips, family events, and the Ross Spring Carnival.  We also offer many activities outside of the regular academic curriculum, such as Girls on the Run, Project Unify Club, Aevidum, Honor Society, Student Council, and Safety Patrol.

We encourage you to be actively involved in your child’s education. A strong partnership between home and school is essential to your child’s success. Our school website is a wonderful resource to keep you updated on all of the current events and happenings in your child’s classroom, and throughout the school. If you have any questions or concerns regarding your child’s education, please feel free to contact your child’s teacher, our assistant principal, or me. We are here to support you and your children in the pursuit of excellence.
